Charlotte Community Foundation Awards Grant to Punta Gorda Lions Foundation
The Punta Gorda Lions Foundation has received a $5,000 grant from the Pauline Adele Kelly June Fund. The June Fund provides care and services for those with hearing issues to help them achieve an enhanced quality of life.
“Thanks to Pauline June’s generosity, The Punta Gorda Lions Foundation has been able to expand their outreach to those in need again this year,” said Tami Sender, Charlotte Community Foundation CEO. “Ms. June was a visionary and kind-hearted philanthropist who was passionate about supporting our community’s key concerns. The Charlotte Community Foundation is happy to be able to help her create a legacy of giving.”
Specifically, the grant will be used by the Punta Gorda Lions Foundation to:
- Screen over 2,800 preschoolers through the addition of new hearing screening equipment.
- Expand the mission of Charlotte County school nurses to include the discovery of students with hearing issues and include professional treatments with a follow-up program.
- Establish relationships with local hearing care providers so that clients who are in need of hearing aids can be examined, evaluated and provided with hearing aids.
Charlotte Community Foundation connects people who care with causes that matter throughout Charlotte County. The Foundation provides personalized donor services to assist individuals, families and businesses in establishing charitable funds that provide grants, education, resources and support for nonprofits, locally or anywhere in the US. So far in 2016, more than $661,000 in grants have been awarded to support nonprofit organizations.
